First Cultural Exchange after Shantou and Johor Bahru becomes Sister Cities

On February 10 to February 14, Shantou Yingge Art Troupe led by Zhao Hong, Deputy Mayor of Shantou City, was invited to attend the hundred-year folk temple fair activity for Johore Ancient Temple in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This is the first cultural exchange between both sides after Shantou and Johor Bahru signed the sister-cities agreement last November.

The folk temple fair for Johore Ancient Temple which has been listed as the national intangible cultural heritage of Malaysia is an annual event of Chinese community in Johor Bahru for over hundred years. It has extensive influence in both Malaysia and abroad. Chaoyang Yingge Dance is the outstanding representative of Chaoshan Culture, which is included in the national intangible cultural heritage directory of China. With vigorous dance steps and momentum full of power and aesthetics, Chaoyang Yingge Art Troupe becomes the most attractive one in the temple fair activity, raising concerns by over hundred news media from Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong and other countries and regions.
