Since 2010, the economic and trade cooperation between Shantou and the ASEAN has been growing rapidly. There is an annual average growth of approximately 18.0％ in the export trade of Shantou to the ASEAN, and the ASEAN has become the biggest trade partner of Shantou.
Many merchants from ASEAN countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei, have directly come to the city to invest in economic projects in various fields.Since 2010, merchants from the ASEAN have established 12 new projects with foreign direct investment, mainly in the manufacturing, real estate, trade service and catering industries.

东盟成为汕头第一大贸易伙伴
自2010年来，汕头与东盟的经贸合作持续高速增长，汕头对东盟进出口贸易年均增长约18.0％，东盟成为汕头的第一大贸易伙伴。
不少东盟国家的客商直接前来我市投资各领域经济项目，主要涉及国家和地区有新加坡、马来西亚、泰国、印尼和文莱等。2010年以来，东盟客商在我市新设立外商直接投资项目12个，主要投资于制造业、房地产业、贸易服务业和餐饮等。
