From May 3 to 5, Professor Wayne • Kaplan, executive vice president of Israel Institute of Technology, and Benjamin • Soph, director of the Office of Technology Transfer, and their delegation visited Shaotou, and had in-depth understanding of the planning and construction progress of China-Israel (Shantou) technological innovation cooperation zone.  Israeli experts expressed their hope to accelerate the construction and project docking in the cooperation zone under the joint efforts of Shantou and Israel.

China-Israel (Shantou) Scientific and Technological Innovation Cooperation Zone in the planning and construction covered a total area of about 5.6 square kilometers, including the main functional zone of higher education research incubator, the innovation and industrial development zone, the modern industrial development zone, the living culture matching zone and the advanced industrial upgrading zone.  In accordance with the work ideas of advancing planning, land requisition, investment attraction, and construction at the same time, great efforts will be made for achieving substantial progress in the construction of the cooperation zone, which meansand  the South Campus of Guangdong Israel Institute of Technology and the modern industrial development area will be initially completed within 2-3 years. Currently, the city is also developing the policies and measures that encourage Israeli companies and scientific and technical personnel to settle in the cooperation zone, and will try to formally publish these policies and measures as early as possible.

　　5月3日至5日，以色列理工学院执行副校长韦恩•卡普兰教授和技术转移办公室主任本杰明•索佛一行莅汕，深入了解中以(汕头)科技创新合作区规划建设进展。以方专家表示，希望在汕头和以色列双方的共同努力下，加快推进合作区建设和项目对接。
　　规划建设的中以(汕头)科技创新合作区总面积约5．6平方公里，功能分区主要包括科研高教孵化区、创新产业拓展区、现代产业发展区、生活文化配套区、先进产业升级区等区域。按照边规划、边征地、边招商、边建设的工作思路，合作区力争在2至3年内在建设方面取得实质性进展，广东以色列理工学院南校区和现代产业发展区初步建成。当前，我市还正抓紧制定鼓励以色列企业和科技人员落户中以合作区的政策措施，力争早日正式出台。
