On the afternoon of June 28, Chen Liangxian, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, met in Shantou University with Mr. Li Ka-shing, the honorary chairman of the School Board of Shantou University and chairman of the Li Ka-shing Foundation, who attended the 2016 Graduation Ceremony and the 1st meeting of the 10th School Board of Shantou University. Chen Liangxian said that Mr. Li Ka-shing and Shantou University had made great contributions to the development of the local economy and society, and that the Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government would try their best to support the development of Shantou University, and push forward the preparation for the construction of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. He hoped that Mr. Li Ka-shing could continue to care for and support Shantou as usual, and offer valuable opinions for accelerating the revitalization and development of Shantou.

On the morning of June 29, Zhu Xiaodan, Governor of Guangdong Province, met with Mr. Li Ka-shing in Shantou University, and they had a discussion on various issues such as accelerating the preparation for the construction of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and carrying out artificial intelligence cooperation. Zhu Xiaodan pointed out that the construction of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology is the No.1 project for promoting Sino-foreign school-running cooperation in Guangdong, and that the Provincial Government would provide strong support for the construction of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. He also pointed out that there is a very promising prospect for the application of artificial intelligence, and hoped that Mr. Li Ka-shing could leverage the good relationship with Shenzhi Company to promote practical cooperation between Guangdong Province and Shenzhi Company in precision medicine and other fields, so that people could better benefit from artificial intelligence. Furthermore, he also hoped to introduce, through Mr. Li Ka-shing, more international technological innovations at a quicker pace to Guangdong for conversion and application, so that Guangdong could continue to take the lead in China with respect to building an innovative economic structure and a new open economic system.

　　6月29日上午，广东省省长朱小丹在汕头大学会见了李嘉诚先生，共商加快广东以色列理工学院筹建工作、开展人工智能合作等事宜。朱小丹指出，建设广东以色列理工学院是广东推动中外合作办学的一号工程，省政府将为广东以色列理工学院建设提供强有力的保障。他同时指出，人工智能的应用前景非常广阔，希望李嘉诚先生发挥与深智公司良好关系的优势，推动广东省与深智公司在精准医疗等领域开展务实合作，使人工智能更好地造福广大人民群众。此外，还希望通过李嘉诚先生将国际上更多的科技创新成果以更快的速度引进到广东转化应用，使广东在构建创新型经济格局和开放型经济新体系上继续走在全国前列。
