Shantou Furthers Trade Cooperation With ASEAN
Since the official inauguration of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area this New Year＇s Day, many import and export enterprises in Shantou have further strengthened their trading activities with ASEAN and some even tried to do business in ASEAN. In the first two months this year, the import and export volume between Shantou and ASEAN showed a growing trend. The export reached 79.70 million dollars and increased by 45.3％, and the import from ASEAN was 53.85 million dollars, an increase of 40.4％ over the same period last year. And the toys, textiles and garments, Shantou＇s key export items, sold well in ASEAN.
In recent years, the CPC Shantou Committee and the Shantou Municipal Government encouraged local enterprises to develop new markets, and the relevant departments and chambers of commerce provided enterprises with match making services for them to start businesses in ASEAN. Some traditional industries in Shantou, though advanced in technology and equipment, suffered from over capacity and plummeted price. They are now trying to set up industrial parks in ASEAN, upgrade and transform their services and further develop international market.

我市深化与东盟地区贸易合作
自今年元旦中国——东盟自由贸易区正式建成以来，汕头不少进出口企业进一步加强了与东盟的贸易往来，部分企业也有意“试水”进军东盟。今年1至2月份我市对东盟贸易态势继续向好，出口达到7970万美元，增长45.3％;自东盟进口值为5385万美元，同比增长40.4％。玩具、纺织服装等我市优势产业也在东盟市场上得以“大展拳脚”。
近年来，市委、市政府高度重视汕头企业开拓东盟新兴市场，有关部门和行业商会也积极为企业进军东盟提供服务、牵线搭桥。我市部分传统产业技术尖端、设备先进，但也面临着产能过剩、价格下降的问题，企业开始探求在东盟地区建立产业园区，实现自身的转型升级，进一步开拓国际市场。
