On the morning of June 24, a strategic cooperation framework agreement was signed by and between Shantou Municipal Government and China Minmetals Corporation, one of the Top 500 enterprise in the world. China Minmetals Corporation plans to invest 55 billion yuan to build the East Guangdong New Logistics Town in Longhu District, Shantou.

The planned area of this project is about 8 square kilometers. The logistics park and the supporting living area will be developed according to the plan. Relying on the powerful strength and the successful experience in development of industrial new town of China Minmetals Corporation, a green and intelligent new logistics town will be built through the project. The corporation strives to take 5–8 years to build a highly information-based and intelligent logistics park of headquarters type and the supporting living area for supporting the development of the logistics, so as to form the core power for the rapid development of the area.

　　该项目规划面积约8平方公里，规划开发物流园及配套生活区。项目将依托中国五矿集团的雄厚实力和开发产业新城的成功经验，打造一个绿色、智能化物流新城，力争用5到8年时间，建成高度信息化、智能化的物流总部型园区和支持物流产业发展配套生活区，形成区域快速发展的核心动力。
