On the afternoon of April 28, the delegation of Pacific Corp. Ltd of COSCO led by Wang Xingru, the vice president and general manager, held talks with the municipal Party Committee and the government to discuss further cooperation and port construction.

Zheng Renhao, the mayor, stated that port construction is critical for Shantou＇s rapid development and building a regional central city, and Shantou is integrating and planning all the port resources at present. He hoped that the overall cooperation could make Shantou Port a big success and achieve mutual benefits. Wang said that he became more confident in cooperation after this visit, and his company would closely cooperate with Shantou Port Group to build another shipping center in China＇s south entrance by taking advantage of its strength in port construction and container shipment.

　　4月28日下午，由中远太平洋公司副主席兼董事总经理王兴如率领的中远太平洋公司代表团与市委、市政府座谈，就进一步加强合作，推进汕头港口建设等问题进行深入交流探讨。
　　市长郑人豪在座谈中表示，港口建设是汕头加快发展、打造区域中心城市的关键所在，当前汕头正对全市港口资源进行全面整合、规划，希望通过双方全方位合作，把汕头港口事业做大做强，实现互利共赢。王兴如表示，通过考察座谈进一步增强了合作信心，中远太平洋有限公司将与汕头港务集团通力合作，利用自身在港口建设和集装箱货运的优势，把汕头精心打造成为中国南大门又一航运中心。
