Recently, the State Council granted the approval of constructing Nanpeng Islands as a national nature reserve. This reserve is situated in the sea area of Penglie Islands, Nan＇ao Village of Shantou, covering a total area of 35,679 hektare, with its core area of 12,581 hektare, the buffer area is 11,285 hektare, and the experimental area is 11,813 hektare.The boundary of the reserve lies from E 117°06＇26" to E117°23＇44", and between N 23°10＇47" and N23°23＇25".

Nanpeng Islands has a superior geographical position, good conditions of climates and hydrology and is rich in living resources of the sea. There are many islands, such as Nanpeng, Zhongpeng, Dingpeng and Qinpeng, as well as dotted reefs in the area.Shantou will earnestly implement the construction management work of the reserve, carry out the boundary settlement and the beacon work of the nature reserve, confirm the ownership of the land and the sea, mark the boundary clearly and then make the announcement to the public according to the area announced, range and functionality.

　　近期国务院批准新建南澎列岛为国家级自然保护区，该保护区位于我市南澳县南澎列岛海域内，总面积35679公顷，其中核心区面积12581公顷，缓冲区面积11285公顷，实验区面积11813公顷。保护区范围在东经117°06"26"至117°23"44"、北纬23°10"47"至23°23"25"之间。
　　南澎列岛保护区地理位置优越，气候水文条件良好，海洋生物资源丰富，区域内有南澎、中澎、顶澎、芹澎等众多岛屿和星罗棋布的礁岩。下来我市将认真贯彻落实保护区的建设管理工作，按照公布的面积、范围和功能区划，抓紧组织开展自然保护区的勘界和立标工作，落实土地和海域权属，标明区界，并向社会公告。
