The Overall Plan of Shantou Port (2012-2030) has recently been approved jointly by the Ministry of Transport and the Guangdong Provincial Government. The Plan specifies that Shantou Port is the major port along the coast and an important pivot for the integrated transport system in the country, and it is also an important port for external links for the eastern Guangdong, southern Jiangxi, southwestern Fujian and other areas. The Plan divides Shantou Port into such areas as Rongjiang Port, the Old Port, Zhuchi Port, Masan Port, Dinei Port, Tianxin Port, Nan＇ao Port, Guang＇ao Port and Haimen Port, forming a development pattern of "one port with nine separated areas", and the function of each port is identified, in an attempt to develop into a modern integrated port with advanced facilities, perfect function, efficient management, remarkable profits, safety and environmental protection.

　　《汕头港总体规划(2012-2030年)》近日获得交通运输部和广东省人民政府联合批复。《规划》明确汕头港是国家沿海主要港口和综合运输体系的重要枢纽，是粤东、赣南、闽西南等地区对外联系的重要口岸。《规划》将汕头港划分为榕江港区、老港区、珠池港区、马山港区、堤内港区、田心港区、南澳港区、广澳港区和海门港区，形成“一港九区”的发展格局，并对各港区功能进行了明确，力争发展成为设施先进、功能完善、管理高效、效益显著、安全环保的现代化综合性港口。
