On March 19, the 11th Sino-European High-level Seminar on Regional Policy and the Summit Meeting of Case Areas was held in Shantou. Focusing on the theme "Regional Cooperation and Integration", the leaders and experts of the EU delegation, the Department of Regional Economy of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People＇s Republic of China, Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Sino-European regional policy cooperation pilot areas had in-depth discussion on the concept of urban development in EU and China and shared successful experiences.

The signing ceremony of five strategic co-operations was held concurrently: Shantou Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Pilot Area and Spanish Andalusia Smart City Alliance will carry out practical co-operations in the planning, construction and management of the smart city as well as other areas; Shantou Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Pilot Area and the University of Nottingham in UK will jointly establish the Science and Technology Innovation Incubation Center and the Demonstration Base for the Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements; Shantou Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Pilot Area, Shantou University and the University of Leicester in UK will conduct operation in higher education, cross-border financial research, school running and other areas;  Shantou Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Pilot Area, Shantou Society of Testing and Inspection, and Intertek Testing Services (ITS) in UK, a world＇s leading quality and security service agency, will conduct operation in establishing commodity inspection and testing service platform, integrating technical strength and resources, setting up technical exchange center, laboratory testing and inspection as well as other aspects. In addition, Shantou Tourism Administration and the West Midlands in UK will conduct cooperation in tourism promotion, tourism organizations, tourism enterprises training, tourism trade contacts and other aspects.

　　3月19日，第11次中欧区域政策高层研讨会暨案例地区总结会在我市举行。欧盟代表团、国家发改委地区经济司、广东省发改委以及中欧区域政策合作试点地区的领导和专家围绕“区域合作和区域一体化”这一主题，深入探讨中欧城市发展理念，分享中欧城市发展成功的经验。
　　同期举行了5项战略合作签约仪式：汕头华侨试验区与西班牙安达卢西亚智慧城市联盟将在智慧城市规划、建设、管理等领域开展务实合作;汕头华侨试验区与英国诺丁汉大学将合作设立科技创新孵化中心、科技成果转化示范基地;汕头华侨试验区、汕头大学与英国莱斯特大学将在高等教育、跨境金融课题研究、合作办学等领域开展合作;汕头华侨试验区、汕头检验检测学会与全球领先的质量和安全服务机构——英国天祥集团(ITS)将在建立商品检验检测服务平台、整合技术力量及资源、组建技术交流中心、实验室检验检测等方面展开合作。此外，汕头市旅游局与英国西米德兰兹郡将在旅游宣传推介、旅游机构合作、旅游企业培训、旅游贸易往来等方面开展合作。
