Recently, the People＇s Government of Guangdong Province officially printed and distributed the Development Planning of the Port Group in East Guangdong (2016-2030). The Planning defines the strategic positions of Shantou Port, Chaozhou Port and Jieyang Port. Shantou Port is defined as a major coastal port and a public logistics hub in China as well as one of the important pivots of maritime cooperation strategy and maritime passage for Guangdong Province to participate in the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. Both Chaozhou Port and Jieyang Port are important regional ports in the coastal area of Guangdong Province.

Guang＇ao Port Area is clearly defined as the only core port area in the Port Group in East Guangdong, which would lay a solid foundation for Shantou to promote the construction of "No. 1 Project" of the port and for the port economic zone to accelerate the construction.

　　近日，广东省政府正式印发《粤东港口群发展规划(2016—2030)》。《规划》明确了汕头港、潮州港、揭阳港的战略定位，把汕头港定位为国家沿海主要港口和公共物流枢纽港，广东参与21世纪海上丝绸之路建设的海上合作战略支点和海上通道重要支点之一，潮州港、揭阳港均为广东沿海地区性重要港口。
　　广澳港区明确作为粤东港口群唯一核心港区，将对我市推进港口“头号工程”建设，以及临港经济区加快建设打下坚实基础。
