On the morning of December 12, Edison Tse, Tenured Professor and the Director of Asia Pacific Center of American Stanford University and author of Redefining Innovation, and the delegation from the North America Branch of Global Chaoren Innovation Economic Promotion Association visited Shantou and had in-depth exchanges with Shantou City on how to promote urban innovation driven development.

At the meeting, Chen Liangxian, Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, hoped that Professor Edison Tse and other experts would offer advice for the transformation and upgrading of enterprises in Shantou and for accelerating the innovation and development of Shantou. The Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government would spare no effort to support the development of enterprises in Shantou, safeguard enterprises by "sustaining economic growth and ensuring people＇s well-being and maintaining stability", and would be committed to creating a good atmosphere for the innovation and entrepreneurship of young people. Edison Tse said that the current situation of Shantou＇s overall revitalization and development was encouraging, and the foundation for innovation driven development was increasingly solid. In the future, relying on the existing advantages of location, ocean, industry and Chaoshan businessmen, through innovative thinking, Shantou may boost the transformation and upgrading of enterprises, attract talents, retain talents, and thus accelerate the promotion of Shantou to achieve innovative development and revitalized development.

　　市委书记陈良贤在会见中希望谢德荪教授和各位专家学者为汕头企业转型升级，为汕头加快创新发展把脉出招。市委、市政府将全力支持企业在汕发展，当好企业“吉祥三保”，并致力于为广大创新创业青年人营造干事创业的良好氛围。谢德荪表示，当前汕头全面振兴发展的良好态势令人鼓舞，创新驱动发展的基础日益夯实。未来汕头可依托已有的区位优势、海洋优势、产业优势、潮商优势，通过创新思维，助推企业转型升级，吸引人才、留住人才，从而加快推动汕头实现创新发展、振兴发展。
