In recent years, Shantou has made great progress in implementing the "Going Global" strategy and more achievements have been recorded last year with investments going into more sectors. In 2009, Shantou approved 22 overseas companies and the contracted investment totaled 15542000 dollars, more than doubled the figure of the previous year. In the past years, Shantou approved altogether 57 overseas companies and the total contracted investment amounted to 26,300,100 dollars.

It is learned that Shantou will take more measures to carry forward the "Going Global" strategy and achieve more progress in developing new markets. The possibility will be explored to establish Shantou overseas textile industry zones in Viet Nam and other countries, and encourage enterprises to invest and set up factories to develop resources in ASEAN countries and to utilize local preferential policies and convenience to directly export their products to ASEASN countries, Japan, Korea, India and other countries. At present, Guangdong Yihua Timber has been approved for setting up a subsidiary in the United States and the total investment is estimated at 30000000 dollars, which is so far the largest investment that a Shantou enterprise has ever made overseas. The Sanbao Minerals in Shantou Bonded Area is also going to invest 5,000,000 dollars to develop local mines in Indonesia, which is the first company ever from our city to develop resources outside China.

Meanwhile, we will support enterprises to build overseas distribution networks and encourage the establishment of brand shops and showrooms. Enterprises with proprietary brands can set up overseas exclusive shops to expand their global sales network, stablish and improve Going Global personnel training system and create a Going Global personnel training and introduction mechanism with integrated efforts from the government, enterprises and training institutions.

在前几年取得不俗成绩的基础上，去年我市“走出去”战略不断推进，投资领域不断扩大。全年新批设立境外公司22家，协议投资累计1554.25万美元，同比增长超过1倍。全市历年累计设立境外公司57家，协议投资累计2630.01万美元。
　　据悉，今年我市将继续多举措推进“走出去”，力促新兴市场开拓有新进展。我市将探索在越南等地建设汕头境外纺织工业园区的可行性，鼓励企业通过在东盟一些国家投资设厂、资源开发，利用当地的优惠政策和便利条件，产品直接出口东盟国家及日本、韩国、印度等国家。目前 “广东省宜华木业股份有限公司”在美国设立子公司已获批准，预计投资总额3000万美元，是我市目前境外投资额最大的企业。汕头保税区三宝矿业有限公司也将准备在印度尼西亚投资500万美元开采矿业，实现我市境外资源性开发零的突破。
　　同时，我市将支持企业建设境外营销网络，鼓励有实力的企业设立境外品牌专卖店和商品展销中心，支持有自主品牌的企业设立境外品牌连锁专卖店，扩建国际销售网络。建立健全“走出去”人才队伍建设体系，形成政府、企业和教育培训单位开展的“走出去”人才培养引进机制。
