On June 21, the startup ceremony of the first-phase project of "Shantou • Chinese Zirconium City" project with a total investment of 2.3 billion yuan was solemnly held in Chenghai District, Shantou City, which means that the project construction has already speeded up.

"Shantou • Chinese Zirconium City" project is a strategic cooperation project between Shantou City and CNNC. Its first-phase project focuses on the production of nuclear fuel assembly, non-ferrous metal processing, ceramic watch, nuclear-grade sponge zirconium and high-performance compound zirconium powder, among which, the CNNC＇s banding project will manufacture high-end products and core components for nuclear industry and nuclear fuel processing. After the completion of the project, the passive situation of totally depending on importing these components will be completely reversed, and it will greatly promote the status and influence of "Shantou • Chinese Zirconium City", which will also play an important role for Shantou City to foster burgeoning strategic industries, speed up industrial restructure and adjustment, construct a modern industrial system, and realize social and economic leapfrog development.

　　6月21日上午，总投资超23亿元的“汕头•中国锆城”首期项目开工仪式在澄海区隆重举行，这标志着“汕头•中国锆城”项目建设全面进入快车道。
　　“汕头•中国锆城”为汕头与中核集团的战略合作项目，此次首期开工的项目主要从事核燃料组件、有色金属加工、陶瓷手表、核级海绵锆和高性能复合氧化锆粉体等的生产。其中，中核集团条带等项目是核工业、核燃料产业加工的高端产品和核心部件，项目建成后，将彻底改变此类产品完全依赖进口的被动局面，对“汕头•中国锆城”的地位和影响力将有重大的提升作用，对于我市培育发展新兴战略性产业、加快产业转型升级，构建现代产业体系，实现经济社会跨越式发展具有重要意义。
