Recently, the West Breakwater Project of the Guang'ao Port Area of Shantou Port smoothly passed the handover acceptance. The Breakwater Project of Guang'ao Port Area is the largest port public infrastructure invested by Shantou Port in its history, with a total length of about 8 km, including the outer east breakwater with a length of 1.8 km and the west breakwater with a length of 6.2 km. As the longest, deepest and largest breakwater in South China, it protects the port area like a trapezoid "Great Wall on the sea" to provide effective protection for the port berths.
With the overall completion of the “Three Major Projects” of the Guang'ao Port Area Breakwater Project, the Guang'ao Port Area Phase II Project and the Channel Phase II Project, the comprehensive development pattern of the port area has been formed and the hardware conditions for berthing large ocean container Vessels have been met. The completion of these projects further established the position of Guang'ao Port Area as the only core port area of eastern Guangdong port group, and helped Shantou to build itself into a national integrated transportation hub.

汕头广澳港西防波堤通过交工验收
汕头港广澳港区西防波堤工程日前顺利通过交工验收。广澳港区防波堤工程是汕头港有史以来投资最大的港口公共基础设施，总长约8公里，包括长1.8公里的外东防波堤和长达6.2公里的西防波堤，是目前华南地区最长最深最大的防波堤，像一座梯形的“海上长城”环护着港区，为港区码头泊位提供有效的防护。
随着广澳港区防波堤工程、广澳港区二期工程以及航道二期工程“三大工程”全面建成，港区全面开发格局已经形成，具备停靠大型远洋集装箱船舶的硬件条件，进一步奠定了广澳港区作为粤东港口群唯一核心港区的地位，助力汕头市建设全国性综合交通枢纽。
