Recently, Feng Changgen, former secretary of the Secretariat and former vice chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, led experts and scholars to inspect and guide the establishment of the Provincial Laboratory in Shantou,  they had in-depth exchanges with our city on accelerating the preparation for  the establishment of the Provincial Laboratory and leading high-quality development with innovation; They also conducted on-the-spot investigations in Shantou Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Pilot Area, Shantou University, Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and relevant high-tech enterprises.

The main goal of the Provincial Laboratory is to attract the settlement of the national laboratory in Guangdong. Its construction will be bench-marked on the top international laboratory; strategic scientists will be introduced into the laboratory; high-level innovation resources in relevant fields at home and abroad will be integrated; and forward-looking basic research, basic application research, and application development research will be carried out. Since last year, Shantou City has been aiming at the needs of a new round of innovation-driven development, and has been actively preparing for the establishment of the Provincial Laboratory; it plans to build the development model with the whole industrial chain of the "provincial laboratory + universities and research institutes + incubators + companies", so as to pursue industrial agglomeration and development and promote industrial transformation and upgrading.

　　近日，中国科协书记处原书记、副主席冯长根带领专家学者莅汕考察指导省实验室筹建工作，与我市就加快筹建省实验室、以创新引领高质量发展进行深入交流，并深入华侨试验区、汕头大学、广东以色列理工学院以及有关高新技术企业开展实地考察。
　　省实验室以国家实验室落户广东为主要目标，其建设将对标国际顶级实验室，引入战略科学家，整合国内外相关领域高水平创新资源，开展前瞻性基础研究、应用基础研究和应用开发研究。去年以来，我市瞄准新一轮创新驱动发展需要，积极筹建省实验室，布局打造“省实验室+高校院所+孵化器+企业”的全产业链条发展模式，带动相关产业集聚发展，促进产业转型升级。
