On the afternoon of April 11, the academicians and experts in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering from  Xiamen University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, the University of Science and Technology of China, and Northwestern Polytechnical University, etc., gathered together in Shantou, and offered advice and suggestions for the preparation of the establishment of a provincial laboratory in Shantou.

By the end of 2017, Guangdong Province formally started the construction of the first group of 4 provincial laboratories, and planned to start by group the construction of 10 provincial laboratories by 2020 in accordance with the principle of "initiating the construction of a laboratory when the conditions are right for the establishment of the laboratory". Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government attach great importance to the establishment of the provincial laboratory in Shantou. Up to now, after preliminary in-depth investigation, Shantou＇s preparatory work has seen some progress including having reached a initial consensus with some famous research institutes such as Guangzhou Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the joint establishment of a Guangdong provincial laboratory, settin up the leading group for the preparatory work of the Guangdong provincial laboratory and its office, and drafting a preliminary construction plan.

Combining with their own work experience and research fields, the members of the expert group discussed the construction plan, and offered valuable recommendations on how to enhance the talent team building, how to give full play to the resource superiority of Shantou＇s industries, and how to attract advantageous scientific and technological forces from home and abroad. Sun Guanghui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, said that Shantou would, guided by the recommendations of the academicians and experts, improve its construction plan, and endeavor to apply to Guangdong Provincial Government for the establishment of a provincial laboratory.

When meeting the expert group, Fang Lixu, Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, said that Shantou would create a good atmosphere for academic exchanges, create conditions to see that high-end talents settle down in Shantou, strengthen the capability for making innovations, create the innovation poles of East Guangdong, and live up to the expectations of  Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government for Shantou.

　　4月11日下午，由来自厦门大学、北京化工大学、中山大学、中国科技大学、西北工业大学等化学化工领域的院士、专家齐聚汕头，为汕头建设省实验室的筹建工作建言献策。
　　2017年底，广东正式启动建设首批4家广东省实验室，计划到2020年按照“成熟一个，启动一个”的原则，分批启动建设共10家，省委省政府高度重视布局汕头建设省实验室。目前，通过前期深入调研，我市筹建工作已取得一定进展，包括与中科院广州化学所等知名科研院所达成共建广东省实验室的初步共识，成立省实验室筹建工作领导小组及其办公室，拟定初步建设方案。
　　专家组成员结合自身的工作经历和研究领域对建设方案进行讨论，就如何加强人才队伍建设、发挥汕头产业的资源优势、吸引境内外优势科技力量等提出了宝贵意见。市委副书记孙光辉表示，将以院士专家的意见为指导，完善汕头市建设方案，争取今年向省政府申报筹建省实验室。
　　市委书记方利旭在会见专家组一行时表示，汕头将营造良好的学术交流氛围，创造条件让高端人才扎根汕头，提升创新能力，打造粤东区域创新极，不辜负省委、省政府对汕头的期望。
