On the afternoon of November 30, Mayor Zheng Jiangge led a delegation to visit Wu Yong, Chairman of China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. The two sides had in-depth discussion on such issues as completing and opening the Shantou Connection Line of Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway and the Extension Line 2 of Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Railway at the end of this year and accelerating the construction of Shantou-Shanwei Railway and Shantou Port Railway, and reached a consensus.

Zheng Jiange said that accelerating the construction of railways and improving the layout of regional railway networks are matters of great importance to Shantou's current and long-term development. Shantou will spare no effort to complete the construction of relevant supporting facilities, strengthen the checking and controlling of potential safety hazards along the railways, make greater efforts to publicize safety knowledge, heighten safety awareness, and ensure that the two above-mentioned railways will be successfully opened to traffic as expected. Wu Yong said that China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. will make vigorous efforts as ever to finish off the project construction of the Extension Line 2 of Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Railway, well prepare for opening it to traffic, and meet the expectations of Shantou people; and continue to expand bilateral cooperation and exchanges, and joint promote the construction of Shantou-Shanwei Railway and Shantou Port Railway.

厦深铁路汕头联络线年底建成通车

11月30日下午，市长郑剑戈率队拜访中国铁路广州局集团董事长武勇，就厦深铁路进汕头联络线暨广梅汕增建二线年底建成通车、加快汕汕铁路、汕头疏港铁路建设等事宜进行深入探讨，达成一致共识。

　　郑剑戈表示，加快铁路建设，完善区域铁路网络布局，事关汕头当前和长远发展。汕头将全力以赴做好相关配套设施的建设，加强沿线安全隐患排查和安全知识的宣传，强化安全意识，确保通车万无一失。武勇表示，广州局集团将一如既往做好广梅汕增建二线项目建设的收尾工作以及通车前的各项准备工作，满足汕头人民的期盼；并将继续拓展双方合作交流，共同推进汕汕铁路、疏港铁路项目建设。
