On April 23, the delegation of the Olympic Council of Asia, led by Ng Ser Miang, Member of Executive Committee of OCA and IOC Executive Board, inspected and exchanged opinions on the preparatory work and related situation of the Asian Youth Games with the Shantou Municipal Government, and held the third technical meeting of the Asian Youth Games in which preparations for the Asian Youth Games were introduced.
There are 21 stadiums in the city. By the time of Asian Youth Games, their upgrade will be finished according to the standards and requirements of each event and under the principle of "major amendment and minor construction". Meanwhile, a new sports center with an area of 276 mu to be built in the East Campus of Shantou University in the East Coast New Town will be undertaken large-scale activities such as the opening and closing ceremonies of the Asian Youth Games.
At the 3rd Asian Youth Games technical meeting held on the afternoon, opinions were exchanged between both parties concerning the date of the commencement, marketing development, competing events, age limit, and venue construction, etc., and 13 events were initially in arrangement, respectively, track and field, swimming (alongwith diving), football, basketball, gymnastics, table tennis, sailing (windsurfing), martial arts, badminton, golf, taekwondo, rock climbing, and handball.

第三届亚青会初步确定13个比赛项目
4月23日，由亚奥理事会执委、国际奥委会执委黄思绵带队的亚奥理事会代表团对我市亚青会各项准备工作和相关情况进行考察交流，并召开第三届亚青会技术会议，听取我市亚青会筹备情况介绍。
我市现有21个体育场馆，届时将按照项目设置以及竞赛标准要求，采用“以修为主、以建为辅”的形式进行改造升级。同时在东海岸新城汕头大学东校区规划新建一个占地276亩的体育中心，将承担亚青会开、闭幕式等大型活动。
在当天下午召开的第三届亚青会技术会议上，各方就举办日期、市场开发、项目设置、年龄设定、场馆建设等要点进行交流，初步确定本次赛会将设置田径、游泳（跳水）、足球、篮球、体操、乒乓球、帆船（帆板）、武术、羽毛球、高尔夫球、跆拳道、攀岩、手球等13个项目。
