According to the Notice on Determining Ma＇anshan and Other Cities as National Intellectual Property Model Cities issued by State Intellectual Property Office recently, Shantou has been officially selected as a National Intellectual Property Model City, with a model term from May 2018 to May 2021.

In recent years, Shantou City has been focusing on optimizing the patent structure and improving patent quality. Thus, the number and quality of Shantou＇s patent applications have been steadily improved. In 2017, the total numbers of patent applications and authorizations respectively ranked 7th and 6th among the prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province; the numbers of invention applications and authorizations respectively ranked 9th and 7th among the prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province; and the indicators continued to maintain leading positions in the east-west-north area of Guangdong.

　　国家知识产权局近日发出《关于确定马鞍山等城市为国家知识产权示范城市的通知》，确定汕头正式入选国家知识产权示范城市，示范时限从2018年5月至2021年5月。
　　近年来，我市坚持把优化专利结构、提高专利质量作为工作重点，全市专利申请数量和质量得到稳步提升。2017年，专利申请和授权总量分别居全省地级市第七位和第六位，发明申请和发明授权量分别位居全省地级市第九位和第七位，各项指标继续保持粤东西北地区领先位置。
