Double-line Connection of the Shantou Bay Tunnel has been Achieved
On the morning of August 7, the shield machine for West Line Tunnel of the Shantou Gulf Tunnel arrived at the designated location of the receiving shaft on the north bank, thus double-line connection of the Shantou Gulf Tunnel achieved. This indicates that the main work of the submarine tunnel part, the most difficult part of the tunnel project, was successfully completed.
The first domestic super-large-diameter muddy water shield machine with independent intellectual property rights is used for the West Line Tunnel. It can be called as "The Pillars of a Great Power" for high-end underground engineering equipment, and has also created a new record for super projects of domestic high-tech equipment casting.
The construction of the Shantou Bay Tunnel is of great significance for improving the Cross-sea Channel Network of the Shantou Inner Bay, accelerating the development of the Shantou Special Economic Zone, facilitating the construction of provincial sub-central cities, and building a modern coastal economic belt. After the double-line connection of the submarine tunnel, the construction of the bay tunnel will focus on some tunnels in the land area, especially the construction of the open-cut section of the north bank tunnel and the entrance and exit ramps.

汕头海湾隧道实现双线贯通
8月7日上午，汕头海湾隧道西线隧道盾构机抵达北岸接收井指定位置，至此汕头海湾隧道实现双线贯通。这标志着整个隧道工程难度最大的海底隧道部分主体工程顺利完成。
西线隧道采用了首台具有自主知识产权的国产超大直径泥水盾构机，堪称地下工程高端装备的“大国重器”，也创造了国产高技术装备铸造超级工程的新纪录。
汕头海湾隧道的建设对完善汕头内海湾过海通道网络，加快汕头经济特区发展，推动省域副中心城市建设，打造现代化沿海经济带重要发展极具有重要意义。海底隧道双线贯通后，海湾隧道建设重点将转入陆域部分隧道的施工，特别是北岸隧道明挖段和各个出入口匝道的施工。
