Recently, the People's Government of Guangdong Province approved the establishment of the coordinated development zones of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone in 13 prefecture-level cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou and Foshan. The planned construction area of Shantou Coordinated Development Zone is 120 square kilometers, covering three areas include the overseas Chinese pilot zone (including the core area of the overseas Chinese pilot zone and Liuhewei Area), the Haojiang Lingang Core Area (including the Comprehensive Bonded Area and Shantou Guang'ao Port Area), and Nan'ao Island Area.
According to the construction thinking, the overseas Chinese pilot zone (including the core area of the overseas Chinese pilot zone and Liuhewei Area) will focus on the development of characteristic financial services, and the construction of modern service industries such as digital economy, cultural creativity, business exhibition, online education, and supply chain logistics; Liuhe Industrial Park will focus on the development of a modern industrial system dominated by new materials, biomedicine and health, and next-generation electronic information industry. Haojiang Lingang Core Area (including the Comprehensive Bonded Area and Shantou Guang'ao Port Area) will focus on the development of new business forms of international trade, international supply chains, offshore wind power, digital economy, biomedicine, characteristic industries of bonded advanced materials (functional membranes), Lingang high-end manufacturing, and bulk commodity distribution center, etc. Nan'ao Island Area will focus on the development of health-preservation and cultural tourism, sports, trade with Taiwan, offshore wind power and marine industries, and build a national-level offshore wind power demonstration area and an international tourism and leisure center.

汕头获批设立广东自贸试验区联动发展区
近期，广东省政府批准在广州、深圳、珠海、汕头、佛山等13个地市设立广东自贸试验区联动发展区。汕头联动发展区规划建设面积120平方公里，涵盖华侨试验区片区(包括华侨区核心区和六合围片区)、濠江临港核心片区(含综保区和汕头港广澳港区)、南澳岛片区等3个区块。
根据建设思路，华侨试验区片区(包括华侨区核心区和六合围片区)将重点发展特色金融服务，建设数字经济、文化创意、商务会展、在线教育、供应链物流等现代服务业；六合产业园将重点发展新材料、生物医药与健康、新一代电子信息产业为主导的现代产业体系。濠江临港核心片区(含综保区和汕头港广澳港区)将重点发展国际贸易新业态、国际供应链、海上风电、数字经济、生物医药、保税先进材料(功能膜)特色产业、临港高端制造业、大宗商品集散中心等。南澳岛片区将重点发展康养文旅、体育、对台贸易、海上风电和海洋产业，建设国家级海上风电示范区和国际旅游休闲中心。
