Shantou Port Achieves Direct Import of Thai Fruits

Since earlier this summer, a plenty of tropical fruits from Southeast Asia, such as Thailand and Singapore, have been generally available; they are very popular in the domestic fruit market and are favored by consumers. On August 7, a batch of young coconuts imported from Thailand by Shantou Taixingsheng Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., a leading fresh fruit importer in Shantou, successfully went through customs clearance procedures at Guang'ao Port, and were shipped to Shantou for sale.
The Thai young coconuts imported this time are the first batch of imported fruits to directly go through customs clearance procedures at Shantou Port since the establishment of the cold chain inspection facility in Shantou Guang'ao Port Area. In the past, when Shantou imported Southeast Asian fruits, it had to indirectly import them via the designated ports such as Guangzhou Port and Shenzhen Port, which not only increased the costs of enterprises, but also failed to assure the quality of fruits, resulting in relatively high prices. This time, the first cold chain imported fruits were directly shipped to Shantou Port, which not only saved import costs for enterprises, but also met the needs of Shantou’s citizens for high-quality imported agricultural products, further promoting the development of the consumer market in Shantou.

汕头口岸实现直接进口泰国水果
入夏以来，泰国、新加坡等东南亚热带水果大量上市，深受国内水果市场和消费者热捧。8月7日，我市生鲜水果进口龙头企业汕头市泰星盛供应链管理有限公司从泰国进口的一批椰青，由广澳港顺利通关并运往汕头销售。
此次进口的泰国椰青是汕头广澳港区冷链查验场投入使用以来，首单在汕头港口直接通关的进口水果。以往我市进口东南亚水果都要到广州、深圳等指定口岸间接进口，不仅增加企业成本，水果品质也得不到保证，价格相对较高。此次首航冷链进口水果直接运抵汕头港口，不仅节约企业进口成本，也满足我市市民对优质进口农产品的需求，进一步推动汕头消费市场发展。
