On December 27, the friendly delegation under the theme of "Jointly Building Everlasting Attachment to Chaoshan – the 2023 China Tour of the Chao Shan General Association of New Zealand", which was led by Xu Shaobo, Chairman of the 4th Board of Directors of the Chao Shan General Association of New Zealand, and Chen Runqin, president of the Chao Shan General Association of New Zealand, visited Shantou, and had in-depth exchanges with relevant leaders of Shantou City on the preservation of Teochew culture as well as economic and trade cooperation and development.
During the meeting, Wen Zhanbin, Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, hoped that the Chao Shan General Association of New Zealand would, as always, continue to concern, support and participate in the construction and development of their hometown, encourage and guide more overseas Chinese to Shantou to find their family roots, visit their relatives, invest and develop businesses, participate in the "High-quality Development Projects for 100 Counties, 1,000 Townships and 100,000 Villages in Guangdong Province", and contribute their wisdom and strength to building Shantou Special Economic Zone in such a way as to achieve better and higher-quality results.
Xu Shaobo said that the Teochew people in New Zealand have always been deeply attached to their motherland China and concerned about their hometown; and that they hope to work with more overseas Teochew people to elevate the Teochew spirit and spread the Teochew culture through multiple channels, strongly support the development of their hometown, and contributing to building Shantou into a brilliant "Pearl of Eastern Guangdong". Chen Runqin said that the Chao Shan General Association of New Zealand would continue to give full play to its role as a bridge and bond, spare no effort to publicize the good development trend of Shantou, take the opportunity of helping Shantou organize the "Two Grand Teochew Events" (the 22th Teochew International Convention and the 10th World Chaoshan Entrepreneurs Convention in 2024), unite and gather more Teochew people in New Zealand and those in all sector to seek new business opportunities and develop new markets in Shantou, and deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in education, culture, industry and other aspects, for the purpose of pursuing mutual benefit and achieving win-win development.

12月27日,由新西兰潮属总会第四届董事局主席许少波、会长陈润沁带队的“共筑潮汕情——新西兰潮属总会2023中国行”友好访问团一行莅汕,与我市就潮汕文化传承、经贸合作发展等进行深入交流。

许少波表示,广大新西兰潮籍乡亲始终心系祖国、关注家乡,希望与更多海外潮人一道,多渠道弘扬潮人精神、传播潮汕文化,大力支持家乡发展,助力汕头成为璀璨的“粤东明珠”。陈润沁表示,新西兰潮属总会将继续发挥好桥梁纽带作用,不遗余力宣传汕头良好发展态势,以助力汕头筹办“两大潮人盛会”为契机,团结凝聚更多在新西兰乡亲和各界力量到汕头寻求新商机、开拓新市场,深化双方在教育、文化、产业等方面的交流合作,实现互利共赢发展。
