Track-laying Begins on the Shantou South-Shantou Section of the Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway

On September 25, track-laying began on the Shantou South-Shantou Section of the Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway, marked by a tractor steadily placing a pair of 500-meter-long rails onto the ballastless track slab in the left line of the Shantou Bay Undersea Tunnel of the Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway.
The Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway, which is 162 kilometers long with seven stations, began service on its Shantou South - Shanwei Section on December 26, 2023. The Shantou South-Shantou Section, where track-laying is currently underway, spans 19.8 kilometers. This includes the 9,781-meter Shantou Bay Undersea Tunnel. In total, 32 kilometers of track must be laid for the project. Once completed and operational, the Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway will extend directly into Shantou’s urban area, linking with the under-construction Zhangzhou-Shantou High-speed Railway. This connection will establish a new, high-capacity north-south passenger corridor, bridging the Pearl River Delta, the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone, and the Yangtze River Delta. It will provide a vital link for cities along the route to integrate into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and connect with eastern China.

汕汕高铁汕头南至汕头段启动铺轨
9月25日，随着牵引车将一对500米长钢轨稳稳铺设在汕头至汕尾高速铁路汕头湾海底隧道左线无砟轨道板上，标志着汕汕高铁汕头南至汕头段开始铺轨。
汕汕高铁线路全长162公里，共设7座车站，其中汕头南至汕尾段已于2023年12月26日开通运营。本次铺轨的汕头南至汕头段全长19.8公里，包含汕头湾海底隧道9781米，共需铺设轨道32公里。项目全线建成通车后，汕汕高铁将正式进入汕头市区，并与在建的漳汕高铁连接，在珠三角、海西、长三角之间构筑起一条新南北向大能力客运通道，为沿线城市融入湾区、连接华东提供重要通道。
