Since the beginning of this year, the first phase of the reconstruction of the new settlement in Wuqiao Island has progressed smoothly. According to the plan, the first phase of the project will build 6 residential buildings with a height of 33 to 34 floors, supporting two underground parking lots, and building a 5,000 square meters kindergarten and 18,000 square meters of indoor gymnasium and outdoor sports venues. More than 2,100 housing units will be provided for residents of Wuqiao Island who chose to be resettled. The first phase of the project is planned to be fully capped in June 2020 and will be used in March 2021. It will be equipped with simple decoration and some service facilities for residents.
At the same time of accelerating the construction of the first phase of the resettlement area, the preliminary work of the second phase of the project is also under planning and designing. Nearly 100 mu （66666 square meters）of land is being cleared and leveled: It is planned to start construction in the second half of the year and the construction will be completed in three years. According to the initial planning of the plot, the second phase of the project will build 18 residential buildings with 19 to 34 floors, and will be equipped with supporting facilities, such as neighborhood committees, meat grocer, cultural activity stations, day care centre for the elderly, and outpatient services, so that its function is more perfect and life there is more convenient.

汕头乌桥岛改造腾退安置区首期工程计划明年6月主体结构封顶
今年以来，我市乌桥岛棚户区改造腾退安置区首期工程建设进展顺利。按照规划，首期工程将建设6栋高33到34层不等的住宅楼，配套两层地下停车场，同时配套建设一个5000平方米的幼儿园和1.8万平方米的室内体育馆及室外运动场地，提供2100多套住房给选择异地安置的乌桥岛居民居住。首期工程计划在2020年6月份主体结构全部封顶，2021年3月份交付使用。届时会配套简单的装修以及一些服务设施供居民使用。
在安置区首期工程加快建设的同时，二期工程前期工作也在抓紧推进，正进行规划设计。近百亩用地在进行清表平整，计划下半年正式开工建设，用三年的时间完成建设。根据地块初步规划，二期工程将新建18栋19至34层的高层住宅楼，并配备居委会、肉菜市场、文化活动站、老年日间照料中心、门诊等配套设施，使整个安置区的功能更加完善，生活更加便利。
