On the afternoon of July 27, the first excavating blast done at Shantou Bay subsea tunnel marked that the high-speed rail subsea tunnel designed with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour had officially entered the substantive construction stage.
The Shantou Bay subsea tunnel functions as a key control project of the Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway, with a total length of 9,781 meters and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It will be constructed through a combined scheme of "shield method + mining method". The blasting this time was operated at a rather prosperous and sensitive area in Haojiang District. The Shantou-Shanwei Sixth Bid Project Department designed the blasting parameters strictly according to "weak blasting" standard. The success of the first blasting marked the Shantou-Shanwei Sixth Bid's tunnel construction had kicked off in an all-round way and entered the formal excavation stage. At the same time, the relevant parameters of the "first blast" will provide a reference basis for the subsequent project blasting construction and lay a foundation for every success of construction tasks.
