After the Shantou-Puning section of the Shantou-Zhanjiang Expressway was opened to traffic, the Puning-Jiexi section of the project passed the delivery acceptance on December 17, and will be officially put into operation at the end of the month.

The Shantou-Zhanjiang Expressway starts from Shantou City in the east, ends at Zhanjiang City in the west, passing through Guangzhou. It is the shortest one among the many expressways from Shantou to Guangzhou. After the opening of the Shantou-Jiexi section to traffic at the end of the month, it will effectively strengthen the connection between eastern Guangdong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Starting from the "Shantou South" toll station in Haojiang District of our city, theoretically, it can reach Guangzhou downtown in three and a half hours. At the same time, the line will help ease the traffic pressure of National Highway 324, further improve the eastern Guangdong expressway network centered on Shantou, and shorten the time and space distance between Shantou and Jieyang. It is of great significance for people along the line to travel and promote local economic development.

汕湛高速公路汕头至揭西段月底全线通车

继汕湛高速公路汕头至普宁段通车运营后，该项目普宁至揭西段12月17日通过交工验收，将于月底正式投入运营。

  汕湛高速公路东起汕头市、西至湛江市，途经广州，是汕头至广州多条高速公路路线中里程最短的一条。汕头至揭西段月底全线通车后，将有效加强粤东与粤港澳大湾区的联系，从位于我市濠江区的“汕头南”收费站出发，理论上三个半小时可以抵达广州市区。同时，该线路有利于缓解国道324线的交通压力，进一步完善以汕头为中心的粤东高速公路网络，缩短汕头、揭阳两市时空距离，对方便沿线百姓出行、促进地方经济发展具有重要的意义。
