On April 7, Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (hereinafter referred to as "GTIIT") held the president's inauguration meeting. Gong Xingao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was formally appointed as the president of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, becoming the first "academician president" of colleges and universities in the East, West and North of Guangdong.

Gong Xingao is an outstanding scientist in the field of Computational Physics in China, with outstanding academic research achievements and rich experience in university work and management. He said that GTIIT would bear in mind the original intention and mission of Sino-foreign cooperative education, seize the strategic opportunities of national science and technology innovation, strengthen talent training, and speed up the construction of a research university with international influence.

　　中科院院士龚新高任广东以色列理工学院校长

　　4月7日，广东以色列理工学院（以下简称“广以”）举行校长就职大会，中国科学院院士龚新高正式担任广东以色列理工学院校长，成为粤东西北地区高校的首位“院士校长”。

　　龚新高是我国计算物理领域杰出的科学家，具备卓越的学术科研成就和丰富的高校工作和管理经验。他表示，广以将牢记中外合作办学的初衷和使命，抓住国家科技创新战略机遇，加大人才培养力度，加速建设有国际影响力的研究型大学。
