On the morning of June 19, Ms. Ma Ya, honorary citizen of Shantou City and founder of China International Beauty Expos, and Mr. Mai Baoer (deceased) donated more than 40,000 copies of Qiaopee between overseas Chinese and people at home to Shantou Archives for free, hoping that with the help of correspondences between overseas Chinese and people at home, more posterity can learn about the miserable past of overseas Chinese as well as their deep feelings for the motherland and their courage to take on responsibilities.
These correspondences are rich in content, which were formed over a long period of time, with Chaoshan as the main region involved. The back-and-forth of these correspondences mainly involved Southeast Asia, followed by Myanmar, USA, and Canada, etc. All these correspondences are packaged with the protective film, sorted according to different categories, and stuck with a number. Most of them are sorted out by a family or a village. These correspondences deeply reflect the history of immigration and new life building of overseas Chinese, They are the historical real testimony of the contributions of overseas Chinese to the economic and social development of their host countries and their motherland, with profound cultural content and high research value.
