This year, Shantou has made remarkable achievement in the construction of educational projects. The construction of new buildings for 10 schools, including Shantou Jinzhong Bay School, Guangdong Shantou Preschool Normal College, Shantou Health Nursing Vocational College under construction (phase II), Jinwan School in Longhu District, and Guangyi Second Primary School in Chenghai District, which are included in the list of key projects managed by Shantou City, has been completed, with a total investment of over RMB 3.1 billion and a gross floor area of 510,000 square meters. In addition, it is estimated that each district or county in Shantou will invest RMB 600 million this year to expand and rebuild primary and secondary schools and kindergartens with a gross floor area of 800,000 square meters.

On August 31, Shantou Jinzhong Bay School (hereinafter referred to as the “School”), located in the Shantou Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Pilot Area, welcomed its first group of 1,600 senior high school freshmen. The School has been planned and constructed according to the standard of national demonstration regular high school. This autumn, it was the first year that the School recruited 400 senior high school freshmen from six districts and one county in Shantou City. The School will build and share high-quality education and teaching resources with Jinshan Middle School to create a new benchmark for Shantou brand high school education.

Guangdong Shantou Preschool Normal College (hereinafter referred to as the “College”), located in Donghu Vocational Education Park in Haojiang District, was also officially opened in September this year. This year, four programs including preschool education, Chinese language education, music performance, sports health and rehabilitation were opened, and nearly 1,000 students were enrolled. The College will provide excellent teachers for preschool education in Shantou and even eastern Guangdong.

汕头一批新校舍建成竣工

　　今年我市教育项目建设取得喜人成绩，汕头金中海湾学校、广东汕头幼儿师范高等专科学校、筹建中的汕头健康护理职业学院（二期）、龙湖区金湾学校、澄海区广益第二小学等10所新校舍列入市重点项目管理的学校竣工，总投资超过31亿元，建筑面积51万平方米。此外，今年预计各区县投入6亿元，扩建、改建中小学、幼儿园校舍园舍建筑面积80万平方米。　

　　8月31日，坐落于华侨经济文化合作试验区的汕头金中海湾学校迎来首批1600名高一年级新生。该校按国家级示范性普通高中标准谋划建设，今秋首年面向全市六区一县招收400名高一级新生，与金山中学共建、共享优质教育教学资源，打造汕头品牌高中教育新标杆。

　　位于濠江区东湖职教园区的广东汕头幼儿师范高等专科学校也于今年9月正式办学。今年共开设学前教育、语文教育、音乐表演、体育保健与康复等4个专业，招生近1000人，将为汕头乃至粤东地区的学前教育提供优良师资。
