On January 24, the grand groundbreaking ceremony for the railway from Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Railway Shantou Station to Shantou Guang'ao Port Area, a key provincial transportation infrastructure construction project, was held. This is another major project to be built for Shantou’s high-level national integrated transportation hub after the high-speed railway has been entered the urban center and the construction of the inter-city railway in eastern Guangdong has been started.

The total length of the line of the Shugang Railway Project in Guang'ao Port Area is about 17 kilometers. Shugang Railway extends southward from Shantou Station, passes through Shantou Inner Bay by means of tunnels, exits the tunnel at the southeast end of Qingyunyan in Haojiang District, and enters Guang'ao Port Area along the north bank of Haojiang River after over-crossing Leiguang Avenue and Shugang Avenue by means of bridges, and Guang'ao Station will be set up. At the same time, the conditions for the establishment of the Shantou-Puning Inter-city Railway Haojiang Station and the access conditions for the Shugang Railway in Haimen Port are reserved at the exit of Qingyunyan Tunnel.

　　广梅汕铁路汕头站至汕头广澳港区铁路开工

　　1月24日，省重点交通基础设施建设项目广梅汕铁路汕头站至汕头广澳港区铁路开工仪式隆重举行，这是继高铁进城、粤东城际动工后汕头建设高水平全国性综合交通枢纽的又一个重大项目。

　　广澳港区疏港铁路项目线路全长约17公里，自汕头站向南引出，以隧道方式穿过汕头内海湾后于濠江区青云岩东南端出隧道，以桥梁形式上跨磊广大道、疏港大道后沿濠江北岸引入广澳港区，设置广澳站。同时在青云岩隧道出口预留汕普城际濠江站设站条件，以及海门港疏港铁路接入条件。
