Since its establishment, Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute") has always attached great importance to talent training in basic research and basic subjects. At present, the Institute is planning to promote the systematic project of talent training in basic subjects in an all-round way, for the purpose of providing innovative talents for Shantou to implement the strategy of "Industry to Promote and Strengthen City Development".
As China’s first sino-foreign cooperative university with independent legal personality to introduce high-quality higher education resources from Israel, it is also the only sino-foreign cooperative university of science and engineering in China. Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology was officially opened in 2017 and was included in the Program of Guangdong Province on Building High-quality Universities in 2018. And it was approved as a key basic research project in Guangdong Province in 2021, and a new key laboratory in Guangdong Province was added.
Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology continuously optimizes the talent training program, introduces the professional teaching system and teaching standards of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, cultivates outstanding science and engineering talents who are urgently needed for China’s development, and forms a high-quality international exemplary talent training program. In addition, the Institute also actively participates in the exchanges and cooperation among provincial laboratories, transforming the strengths of high-level scientific research into the strengths of talent training.

广东以色列理工学院全方位谋划基础学科人才培养
广东以色列理工学院自成立以来，一直非常注重基础研究和基础学科人才培养。当前，学校正全方位谋划推动基础学科人才培养系统性工程，为汕头“工业立市、产业强市”提供创新型人才。
作为我国第一所引进以色列优质高等教育资源的具有独立法人资格的中外合作大学，也是国内唯一一所理工科中外合作大学，广以2017年正式办学，2018年即被列入广东省高水平大学建设计划，2021年更获批广东省重点基础研究项目，新增广东省重点实验室。
广以不断优化人才培养方案，引进以色列理工学院的专业教学体系和教学标准，培养国家发展急需的优秀理工科人才，形成高水平、国际化的示范性人才培养方案。此外，学院也积极参与省实验室的交流和合作，将高水平科研优势转变成人才培养优势。
