Recently, Shantou Municipal Committee of the CPC and Shantou Municipal People’s Government successively held three video communication conferences with Chaozhou-originated overseas Chinese, through which dozens of Chaozhou-originated overseas Chinese gathered online, had a “face-to-face” video chat, renewed their affection for their hometown and happily talked about changes of their hometown for the purpose of pursuing common development.

Through three video communication conferences, the Chaozhou-originated overseas Chinese from 21 countries around the world, as well as the Chaozhou-originated Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, truly felt the sentimental warmth, encouraging changes and development opportunities of their hometown online, thus relieving their homesickness brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. They said that they would give full play to the advantages of Chaozhou-originated overseas Chinese associations, mobilize the rich resources of overseas Chinese in terms of capital, technology, and personal connections, and build more “bridges” to encourage overseas Chinese to offer their advice and invest effort for the development of their hometown.

　　近日，汕头市委、市政府连续召开三场海外乡亲视频交流会，与数十位海外乡亲相聚云端，通过视频连线“面对面”畅叙乡情，喜谈变化，共谋发展。

　　通过三场视频交流会，来自全球21个国家以及中国香港、澳门的潮籍乡亲从云端真切感受到了家乡的浓浓温情、喜人变化和发展机遇，慰藉了他们因疫情阻隔的思乡之情。大家表示接下来将充分发挥海外潮团优势，把海外侨胞在资金、技术、人脉等方面的丰富资源调动起来，为家乡发展牵线搭桥、献计出力。
