With the approval of China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., the Longchuan Locomotive Depot will be relocated to Shantou and renamed Shantou Locomotive Depot, helping Shantou to accelerate the formation of a regional railway hub.

Established in 1995, the Longchuan Locomotive Depot of China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. is the southernmost locomotive depot of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway. Since its establishment 27 years ago, it has provided continuous railway power traction services for the economic development of eastern Guangdong. After the Longchuan Locomotive Depot is relocated to Shantou, it will break new ground in the railway-land cooperation and common development. Through the advantages of the railway, the resources in Shantou and surrounding areas will be complemented and integrated, providing strong support for the high-quality economic and social development of eastern Guangdong.

　　经国铁集团批复，龙川机务段段部将搬迁至汕头，更名为汕头机务段，助力汕头加快形成区域铁路枢纽中心。

　　中国铁路广州局集团有限公司龙川机务段于1995年挂牌成立，是京九铁路最南端的机务段。成立27年来，为粤东地区经济发展提供了源源不断的铁路动力牵引服务。龙川机务段搬迁至汕头后，将开启路地合作、共谋发展的新局面，通过铁路优势实现汕头地区和周边地区资源互补及融合，为粤东地区经济社会高质量发展提供有力支撑。
