On July 22, Shantou invited 19 overseas Chinese leaders of Chaoshan origin in Guangdong to visit Shantou for getting the ideas of the latest social and economic development of Shantou, experiencing the latest construction achievements of Shantou, and bringing the emotions of the Chaozhou folks at home and abroad.

The delegation visited the Shantou Urban Development Exhibition Hall and the Planning Exhibition Hall of the Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Experimental Zone, and the Digital Technology Industry Base to learn more about the development of the Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Experimental Zone and the development of the digital economy promoted by Shantou. The overseas Chinese leaders watched all the way and were deeply excited, and they all said that they would guide more Chaozhou folks at home and abroad to join the efforts of promoting Shantou's high-quality development, and contribute to the all-round advances of Shantou as a harmonious and happy hometown of overseas Chinese.
