On the morning of September 28, Shantou held the ceremony of opening Shantou Bay Tunnel to traffic.

With a total length of 6.68 kilometers, the construction of Shantou Bay Tunnel was started in 2015. In order to build this "world-class superproject", several academicians, experts and China's top design and construction teams participated in the design and construction of Shantou Bay Tunnel. They effectively solved world-class problems such as crossing complex strata, and set several records, such as "China's first large-diameter shield undersea tunnel located in an 8-degree earthquake intensity zone" and "the cross-sea highway tunnel with the largest diameter in China", creating an exemplary project designed to last for a century or longer.

　　汕头海湾隧道通车

　　9月28日上午，我市举行汕头海湾隧道通车仪式。

　　汕头海湾隧道全长6.68公里，于2015年开启建设。为建造这一“世界级超级工程”，多位院士、专家以及国内顶尖设计施工团队参与了海湾隧道的设计建设，有效破解穿越复杂地层等世界级难题，创下了“我国首座地处8度地震烈度区的大直径盾构海底隧道”“国内直径最大的越海公路隧道”等多项纪录，打造了一个具有示范性意义的百年工程。
