E-commerce has become a shining "brand name" of new business forms in Shantou's economy. In the past ten years, Shantou's E-commerce has achieved leapfrog development. From 2012 to 2021, Shantou doubled the volume of domestic E-commerce transaction, increasing from RMB 26.6 billion to RMB 56.3 billion; its total business volume of express delivery service enterprises exceeded 5.8 billion pieces.

Since winning the title of "National E-Commerce Demonstration City" in 2011, Shantou has been playing the positive effects of demonstration in creating E-commerce cities, and exploring new paths of E-commerce development. Shantou has been successively selected as one of the first group of "National Information Consumption Pilot Cities", one of "China's Top 100 Cities in E-commerce", and China's first pilot city of "E-commerce Capability Assessment and Certification". Shantou has explored the establishment of China's first "Enterprise Application E-commerce Capability Assessment" system. The Baoao City E-Commerce Park has been awarded the title of "National E-Commerce Demonstration Base" by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, and it is currently the only national E-commerce demonstration base in eastern Guangdong. In December 2019, the State Council approved the establishment of a comprehensive cross-border E-commerce pilot zone in Shantou. Cross-border E-commerce has developed rapidly in Shantou and has become a new driving force for the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade. In rural areas, E-commerce emerges on new vitality by combining it with agriculture.

　　汕头电子商务交易规模十年翻番

　　电子商务是我市经济新业态的一张“靓丽名片”。十年间，汕头电子商务实现跨越式发展。2012年至2021年，全市国内电子商务交易额从266亿元增长到563亿元，实现“翻一番”；全市快递服务企业业务量累计完成超58亿件。

　　自2011年获得“国家电子商务示范城市”称号以来，我市持续发挥示范创建的积极效应，探索电子商务发展新路径，相继入选首批“国家信息消费试点城市”“全国电商百佳城市”、全国首个“电子商务能力评估认证”试点城市，探索建立全国首个“企业应用电子商务能力评估”体系，宝奥城电子商务园区获批国家商务部授予的“国家级电子商务示范基地”称号，是目前粤东地区唯一一家国家级电子商务示范基地。2019年12月，国务院批复同意汕头设立跨境电子商务综合试验区，跨境电商在我市发展迅猛，成为外贸转型升级新动能。在农村，电子商务与农业农村相结合，也不断焕发新活力。
