On the morning of October 30, a mobilization meeting for the commencement of the construction of “One Ring, One Ray” project of Eastern Guangdong Intercity Railway was held in Shantou, marking that the Project fully entered the construction stage and that the construction would be rolled out on the whole line.

The total length of the project line is about 140 kilometers, the maximum design speed is 160 kilometers per hour, and there are 31 stations along the line. The total investment of the Project is about RMB 50.9 billion. The construction period is tentatively set as 4.5 years. The entire line is divided into 5 sections. Among others, in the territory of Shantou, the project line is about 53.5 kilometers long and there are 13 stations along the line. After the completion of the Project, the mainstays of economic development, densely populated areas and transportation hubs in the territories of Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang will be linked up like a string of pearls. The “internal circulation” of regional traffic will be further opened, forming a half-hour commuter circle in Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang. Meanwhile, the project line will be connected with important transportation hubs such as Shantou Station, Chaoshan Station, Jieyang Station, and Chaoshan Airport; and by connecting the project line with the railways such as Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway, Meizhou-Shantou High-speed Railway, Xiamen-Shenzhen High-speed Railway, Zhangzhou-Shantou High-speed Railway, and the railway to Shantou Guang'ao Port Area, the smooth flow of “external circulation” will be accelerated, further promoting Shantou's construction of a national integrated transportation hub, improving the quality and energy level of Shantou as a sub-central city of Guangdong Province, accelerating high-level interconnection between eastern Guangdong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and injecting more new economic impetus to the integrated and coordinated economic development and high-quality development of eastern Guangdong metropolitan area.

　　粤东城际铁路全线开工

　　10月30日上午，粤东城际铁路“一环一射线”项目全线开工动员大会在我市举行，标志着该项目全面进入施工阶段，全线铺开建设。

　　该项目线路总长约140公里，最高设计时速160公里，设站31座，总投资约509亿元，工期暂定4.5年，全线共分为5段。其中在汕头境内长约53.5公里，设13座车站。项目建成后，汕潮揭三市区域内主要经济据点、人口密集区和交通枢纽将串珠成链，区域交通“内循环”进一步打通，形成汕潮揭半小时通勤圈；同时连接汕头站、潮汕站、揭阳站、潮汕机场等重要交通枢纽，通过与汕汕高铁、梅汕高铁、厦深高铁、漳汕高铁、广澳港铁路等铁路衔接加速畅通“外循环”，进一步推进汕头建设全国综合交通枢纽、提升省域副中心城市品质能级，加速促进粤东地区与粤港澳大湾区实现高水平联动，为粤东都市圈经济一体化协调发展和高质量发展注入更多经济活力。
