On the morning of February 22, Israel's Ambassador to China Irit Ben-Abba and her entourage visited Shantou. Wen Zhanbin, Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, said during the meeting that Israel is a world-famous innovative country, and there is still considerable space for further cooperation between Shantou and Israel. He sincerely hopes that the Israeli Embassy in China and the Consulate General of the State of Israel in Guangzhou will continue to pay attention to and support the development of Shantou, promote scientific and technological cooperation, commodity trade, and people-to-people exchanges, and work together to write a new chapter of deepening cooperation between Shantou and Israel. The CPC Shantou Municipal Committee and Shantou Municipal People’s Government will continue to improve the investment, entrepreneurship, and living environments, create better conditions and provide better services for the development of cooperative projects such as Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology (hereinafter referred to as "GTIIT"), and promote substantive, results-oriented cooperation between Shantou and Israel.
Irit Ben-Abba highly praised the achievements made in the exchanges and cooperation between Israel and Shantou, and hoped that the two sides would leverage their respective resources and strengths, increase support and guarantee for the education and operation of GTIIT, and work together to build GTIIT into an internationally recognized top-notch research university. In addition, she said that the two sides should actively promote communication, further expand areas of cooperation, maintain close friendly exchanges, and strive to achieve mutual benefits and win-win progress.

以色列驻华大使潘绮瑞一行莅汕访问
2月22日上午，以色列驻华大使潘绮瑞一行莅汕访问。市委书记温湛滨在会见中表示，以色列是举世闻名的创新国度，与汕头有着广阔的合作空间，衷心希望以色列驻华大使馆、以色列驻广州总领馆继续关注和支持汕头发展，促进科技合作、商品贸易、人文往来，共同谱写汕以合作新篇章。市委、市政府将持续优化投资、创业、居住环境，为广东以色列理工学院等合作项目发展创造更好条件、提供更优服务，推动汕以合作走深走实。
潘绮瑞高度评价了以色列与汕头交流合作取得的成果，希望双方充分发挥资源优势，加大对广东以色列理工学院教育办学的支持保障力度，合力把学院建设成为国际公认的高水平研究型大学；同时表示将积极推进双方沟通交流，进一步拓展合作领域，密切友好往来，努力实现互利共赢。
