On March 12, Qiu Chengtong, winner of the Fields Medal (the world's highest prize in mathematics), an internationally renowned mathematician, and dean of the Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University, and his entourage, visited Shantou and had in-depth discussions with Shantou on topics such as scientific research and education, teacher training, and talent development.

Wen Zhanbin, Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, thanked Mr. Qiu Chengtong for his continuous interest and support for Shantou's development, and hoped that Mr. Qiu Chengtong and Qiuzhen College would give full play to their academic and resource advantages, strengthen cooperation with Shantou in teaching and education, talent training, scientific and technological innovation, providing strong intellectual support for Shantou's high-quality development. Qiu Chengtong said he would provide support for Shantou in enabling the development of modern industries, building educational and teaching platforms, and cultivating top mathematics talents, to help Shantou accelerate the construction of a modern and dynamic special economic zone.
