On September 7, the planning and construction of Shantou Science City was officially launched, which will support the high-quality development of Shantou through scientific and technological innovation.

Shantou Science City is located in the western area of Shantou high-tech zone. The planned core area is 29.1 square kilometers, and an extension area of about 20 square kilometers has been reserved. In terms of planning and layout, four major science and technology innovation zones, namely: the science and education research and development zone, the industrial development zone, the talent service zones, and the ecology protection and restoration zone, will be built to create a hub of science and technology innovation in eastern Guangdong. In terms of implementation scheduling, it is planned to complete the planning and design in one year, to achieve initial success in three years, and to make major breakthrough in five years. The first phase of the infrastructure construction project in the core area of Shantou Science City has invested RMB 440 million and has now been basically completed; the second phase is planned to invest RMB 410 million, and the construction is expected to be completed in June 2025.

　　汕头科学城规划建设启动

　　9月7日，汕头科学城规划建设正式启动，将以科技创新支撑汕头高质量发展。

　　汕头科学城位于我市高新区西片区，核心区规划面积29.1平方公里，并预留约20平方公里的外延区。在规划布局上，构建四大科创片区，即：科教研发区、产业发展区、人才服务区、生态维育区，打造粤东科技创新高地。在建设进度上，计划一年完成规划设计，三年规模初见成效，五年取得重大突破。科学城核心区基础设施建设项目一期投资4.4亿元，现已基本完成；二期计划投资4.1亿元，预计2025年6月完成建设。
