Recently, the Cultural Center of the General Administration of Sport of China announced the List of the 2023 China Sports Tourism Excellence Destinations. Shantou Nan'ao Island Ecological Tourism Zone was the only Guangdong Province's scenic area included in the List.

In recent years, the development path of sports tourism in Nan'ao County has been distinctive. It has successively hosted several high-profile sporting events including the Asian Surfing Championships and the Asia Triathlon Cup, focusing on cultivating and building mass sports event brands such as the Nan'ao Trail-Running Challenge and the Nan'ao Island Midsummer Night Running under the Fluorescent Light. Next, Nan'ao County will build sports tourism excellence scenic areas with high standards, so that Nan'ao County can have close contact with the world, and visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery during sports tourism.

　　汕头南澳岛生态旅游区入选2023中国十佳体育旅游精品项目

　　近日，国家体育总局文化中心公布“2023中国体育旅游精品项目”名单，汕头南澳岛生态旅游区入选十佳体育旅游精品项目，是广东唯一入选的景区。

　　近年来，南澳县体旅发展之路特色鲜明，持续承接举办亚洲冲浪锦标赛、“铁人三项”亚洲杯赛等多场高规格体育赛事，着力培育打造南澳越野挑战赛、南澳岛仲夏荧光夜跑等群众体育活动品牌。接下来南澳县将高规格建设体育旅游精品景区，让南澳与世界亲密接触，让游客在体育旅游中感受美丽风景。
