On the evening of November 20, under the guidance of the UNICEF in China, the Teochew International Federation, Shantou Municipal Bureau of Overseas Chinese Affairs, Shantou Municipal Women's Federation, Shantou Municipal Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and Shantou Municipal Youth League Committee, the International Teochew Youth Federation and the Organization for Economic Cooperation of International Teochew Commerce & Industry organized the 2023 World Children's Day Light-up Evening Party under the theme of "Let's Build a Child Friendly Society for All. Light Up Children's Future" in Shantou Small Park.
The UN officials and overseas Chinese leaders of Chaoshan origin from home and abroad celebrated the World Children's Day online and offline to express their love and best wishes for the children worldwide. At 9 p.m., the guests who participated in the event took the stage to jointly turn on the child-friendly blue lights on iconic buildings in Shantou, including the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Pavilion in Small Park, Times Square, and Mayu Blue. All participants sang the song "We are the World" in chorus, jointly extending their best wished for a better future for children in Shantou and the world as well. As the lights on the venue were lit up, the blue lights in three cities including Chaozhou, Jieyang, and Shanwei were also lit up at the same time.

2023年世界儿童日亮灯晚会在汕头小公园举行
11月20日晚,由联合国儿童基金会驻华办事处、国际潮团总会、市侨务局、市妇联、市侨联、共青团汕头市委指导,国际潮青联合会和国际潮商经合组织主办的“童享友好世界,点亮儿童未来”2023年世界儿童日亮灯晚会在汕头小公园举行。
联合国官员以及来自海内外的潮籍侨领通过线上线下庆祝世界儿童日,表达对世界儿童的关爱和美好祝福。晚上9时,参加活动的嘉宾上台共同启动亮灯,小公园中山纪念亭、时代广场、妈屿蓝等汕头标志性建筑同时点亮了象征儿童友好的蓝色灯光,全场合唱《We are the world》,共同祝愿汕头儿童乃至全世界儿童的未来更加美好。随着现场灯光点亮,潮州、揭阳、汕尾三市的蓝色灯光也被点亮。
