At 7:30 on December 24, the 2023 Dong Chu Shantou Marathon (hereinafter referred to as the "Marathon") kicked off promptly. Nearly 25,000 runners from all over the world gathered in Shantou to enjoy the fun brought by the sports feast.

This "Shantou Marathon" was a national A1 event. It was implemented in accordance with the standards of the Gold Label Race of Chinese Athletics Association and the Elite Label Race of World Athletics. This event consisted of in the full marathon for 5,000 runners, the half marathon for 6,000 runners, as well as the fun run and parent-child run for 14,000 runners. This event was characterized by the highlights of "Millennium Teochew Heritage, Century-Old Commercial Port, and Overseas Chinese Hometown Food". The track for the race was planned centering on four major areas in different historical eras: the commercial port, development, special economic zone, and ocean, epitomizing the glorious heritage and bright future of Shantou City.

After intense competition, the runners from Ethiopia won both the championships of the men's and women's competitions in the full marathon and the championship of the women's competition in the half marathon. Chinese runner Wang Peilin broke out of the tight encirclement and won the championship of the men's competition in the half marathon. Chinese runner Zhong Jiameng won the third place of the women's competition in the full marathon.

　　2023东楚汕头马拉松开跑

　　12月24日7时30分，2023东楚汕头马拉松准时鸣枪开跑，来自世界各地近25000名跑者齐聚汕头，享受体育盛宴带来的乐趣。

　　本次“汕马”为国家A1类赛事，参照中国田径协会金牌赛事和世界田联精英标牌赛事标准执行。赛事设置全程马拉松5000人、半程马拉松6000人，欢乐跑和亲子跑达14000人。本届赛事以“千年潮韵、百载商埠、侨乡美食”作为办赛亮点，赛道围绕“商埠、发展、特区、海洋”四大不同时代历程区域来规划，浓缩了城市的辉煌沉淀及美好未来。

　　经过激烈角逐，马拉松男子、女子组冠军以及半程马拉松女子组冠军均由埃塞俄比亚选手夺得。中国选手王佩林突出重围，夺得半程马拉松男子组冠军。中国选手钟佳萌收获马拉松女子组第三名。
