At 9:28 on December 26, the first train of Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway departed from Shantou South Railway Station, marking the official opening and operation of the first high-speed railway with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour in eastern Guangdong.

Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway starts at Shantou Station, passes through Shantou City, Jieyang City and Shanwei City, and connects with Shanwei Station of Guangzhou-Shanwei High-speed Railway, with a total length of 162 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. During the initial operation, the railway department will schedule passenger trains in light of the daily lines, weekend lines, and peak-hour lines. The maximum number of EMUs going into operation per day is 24. The shortest period of time taken from Shantou South to Shanwei Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station, and Shenzhen North Railway Station will respectively be 36 minutes, 113 minutes, and 109 minutes. The opening and operation of Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway will open up more and greater space for taking eastern Guangdong as the destination of industrial relocation, improve the circulation channels of innovative resources, and win more development opportunities for eastern Guangdong.

　　汕汕高铁汕头南至汕尾段正式开通运营

　　12月26日9时28分，汕汕高铁首趟列车从汕头南站开出，标志着粤东地区首条设计时速350公里的高速铁路正式开通运营。

　　汕汕高铁起自汕头站，途经汕头、揭阳、汕尾市，接入广汕高铁汕尾站，线路全长162公里，设计时速350公里。开通运营初期，铁路部门将按照日常线、周末线、高峰线安排旅客列车开行，每日开行动车组列车最高达24列，汕头南至汕尾、广州东、深圳北站最快分别36分钟、113分钟、109分钟可达。汕汕高铁的开通，将为粤东地区承接产业转移打开更多更大的空间，畅通创新资源流通渠道，为地区赢得更多的发展先机。
