On the morning of February 4, the commencement activities of Zhangzhou-Shantou High-speed Railway were held concurrently at Shantou Station in Shantou City, Guangdong Province and Dongshan Station in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province.
Zhangzhou-Shantou High-speed Railway is not only an important part of the coastal corridor of China national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway main channel, but also a key node in opening up the high-speed railway passenger corridor of Guangzhou-Shanwei-Shantou-Zhangzhou-Xiamen-Fuzhou along the southeast. Zhangzhou-Shantou High-speed Railway is 175 kilometers long, including 48 kilometers in Guangdong Province. The whole line is equipped with Shantou Station, Shantou East Station (reserved), Raoping South Station, Zhao'an South Station, Dongshan Station, Zhangpu Station, and Zhangzhou Station, etc. It is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in 2028. At that time, through the high-speed railway, a passenger will be able to go directly from Xiamen to Guangzhou in more than two hours, saving nearly half of the time compared to now. This is of great significance for strengthening the communication and connection between the eastern Guangdong Province and the core areas of the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta, and for breaking the "bottleneck" of regional high-speed rail development.

漳汕高铁开工建设
2月4日上午,漳州至汕头高速铁路开工活动在位于广东省汕头市的汕头站和位于福建省漳州市的东山站同步举行。
漳汕高铁是国家“八纵八横”高铁主通道沿海通道的重要组成部分,也是打通广州—汕尾—汕头—漳州—厦门—福州东南沿海高速铁路客运通道的关键节点。项目全长175公里,其中广东段48公里,全线设汕头、汕头东(预留)、饶平南、诏安南、东山、漳浦、漳州等站,计划于2028年建成通车。届时可实现高铁从厦门2个多小时直达广州,较现在节约近一半时间,对于加强粤东地区与珠三角、长三角核心地区的沟通联系,打破区域高铁发展“瓶颈”具有重要意义。
