The 2024 Cultural Festival of the Hometown of Overseas Chinese in Eastern Guangdong and the 4th Shantou "Maritime Silk Road" Martial Arts Festival were held from May 4th to 5th in Lianshang Town, Chenghai District, Shantou City. Six hundred "martial arts masters" gathered at the Tashan Scenic Area. They performed not only traditional martial arts routines, but also great showdowns of modern combat tactics, so that the spectators could closely observe the stunts of the martial arts masters on the arena, for the purpose of further promoting and carrying forward martial arts culture.
During the event, an interactive session was also set up on the venue, inviting the spectators to experience basic martial arts movements and understand the way to fitness through martial arts. For the purpose of presenting the unique charm of Chaoshan culture at multiple levels, and boosting the "High-quality Development Project for the Counties, Towns and Villages in Shantou City" through the integrated development of culture, tourism and sports, a series of activities were organized, bringing one highlight after another: intangible cultural heritage performances such as Yingge Dance, Dragon Dance, Lion Dance, Double Chicken Dance, and Unicorn Dance; artistic performances such as Song and Dance, Chaozhou Opera, and Chaoshan Nursery Rhymes; as well as cultural lectures and photography exhibitions.
