China (Shantou) - Malaysia Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation and Exchange Conference is Held in Kuala Lumpur

On August 8, the China (Shantou) - Malaysia Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation and Exchange Conference and the Qiaopi History and Cultural Exhibition Themed “Three Rivers Run into the Sea and One Letter is Sent to Home”, were successfully held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Shantou and Malaysia carried out investment promotion, project signing, as well as exchange and matchmaking. A total of 33 projects were successfully signed, with a total amount of more than RMB 7 billion, further promoting Shantou and Malaysia to carry out higher-level exchanges and collaborations across more areas and in greater depth.


At the conference, the China - Malaysia Teochew Cuisine Cultural Exchange Center was inaugurated. On the venue, the activities of displaying and appraising Teochew cuisine and the Teochew Gongfu Tea ceremony performance were also organized. More than 10 kinds of traditional Teochew cuisine, including the peach-shaped kueh (rice cake), lion-headed goose, and beef meatballs, have entered Malaysia, so that Malaysian friends and many Teochew people in Malaysia can taste the delicacies from their hometown.


On the day of the event, the 2024 Qiaopi History and Cultural Exhibition Themed “Three Rivers Run into the Sea and One Letter is Sent to Home” was officially opened in Malaysia. Through nearly 200 pictures of Qiaopi (Correspondence and Remittance Documents from Overseas Chinese) and related documents, more than 100 meters of theme exhibition lines were strung together, and in particular, 20 Malaysian Qiaopi stories were incorporated into the Exhibition, forming a brilliant storytelling of the immigration history, entrepreneurial history and excellent spirit of overseas Chinese. In addition, the Exhibition will also incorporate the "hidden" Qiaopi into the special fine art display and interactive scenes, and it will be embedded with the elements of intangible cultural heritage such as Off the Garden, Yingge dance, Chaozhou Opera, Teochew cuisine, paper-cutting, and embedded porcelain, so that the visitors can perceive the Qiaopi cultural spirit in an immersive way, and experience the charm of Chaoshan culture.

  中国(汕头)-马来西亚经贸文化合作交流会在吉隆坡举行

  8月8日,中国(汕头)-马来西亚经贸文化合作交流会暨“三江出海 一纸还乡”侨批历史文化展在马来西亚吉隆坡成功举办。汕马双方开展投资推介、项目签约和交流洽谈,共33个项目成功签约,总金额超70亿元,进一步推动汕头与马来西亚在更宽领域、更深层次进行更高水平的交流与协作。

  会上,中马潮汕菜文化交流中心揭牌成立。现场还举办潮汕美食展示品鉴活动和潮汕工夫茶艺表演,包括红桃粿、狮头鹅、牛肉丸等在内的10多种潮汕传统美食走进马来西亚,让马来西亚友人和众多乡贤在海外能品尝到来自家乡的味道。

  活动当天,2024年“三江出海 一纸还乡”侨批历史文化展正式在马来西亚开幕,通过近200幅侨批及相关资料图片,串起超百米长的主题展线,并特别加入20个马来西亚侨批故事,将华侨华人的移居史、创业史和优秀精神娓娓道来。此外,展览还将在特色美陈和互动场景中融入“隐藏款”侨批,并嵌入出花园、英歌舞、潮剧、潮菜、剪纸、嵌瓷等非遗元素,让参观者沉浸式感知侨批文化精神,体验潮汕文化魅力。
