The construction of the new campus of Shantou Central Hospital was officially started in November 2020, and the main structure of the new campus was completed in November 2022. At current stage, engineering construction, including façade, mechanical and electrical installation, and indoor decoration and adornment, is in progress. The new campus is expected to be put into use in 2025.

The new campus is positioned as a high-level hospital in Guangdong Province and a provincial regional medical center, covering an area of 197 mu [about 13.1 hectares], with a gross floor area of 542,000 square meters and 3,000 planned beds, making it the largest hospital in eastern Guangdong. After the new campus is put into use, the old campus will be retained for use, adopting the model of " one hospital, two campus, differentiated development"; the two campuses will be used synchronously; the personnel will be under unified management; and the doctors will take turns to visit patients in both campuses.

　　汕头市中心医院新院区将于2025年投入使用

　　汕头市中心医院新院区于2020年11月正式开工，2022年11月完成主体结构封顶，现阶段正进行外立面、机电安装、室内装修装饰等工程施工，预计于2025年投入使用。

　　新院区定位为广东省高水平医院、省级区域医疗中心，占地197亩，建筑面积54.2万平方米，规划床位3000张，是目前粤东地区最大规模医院。新院区投入后，老院区将保留使用，采取“一院两区、错位发展”模式，两个院区同步使用，人员统一管理，医生两边轮流出诊。
